Possible Causes
Excessive pellet feed, Stuck auger relay on control board, RTD probe reading too low, Grease fire adding extra heat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If temperature is extremely high or there is a grease fire, turn the grill off, unplug it, and keep the lid closed until the fire subsides. Do not use water on grease fires.
- Clean grease: After cooling, thoroughly clean the drip tray, grease channels, and cook box to remove flammable grease buildup.
- Check pellet feed: Observe whether pellets continue to feed when the set temperature is reached. If the auger runs constantly, the control board or auger relay may be stuck.
- Inspect RTD probe: Clean the RTD probe and ensure it is properly mounted and not touching metal surfaces that could skew readings.
- Test with lower setpoint: Set a low temperature and monitor. If the grill still overshoots significantly, replace the RTD probe. If the issue persists, the control board may need replacement.
