Possible Causes
Low pellet feed rate, Poor-quality pellets, Combustion fan not running at full speed, Excessive heat loss from open lid or wind
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep the grill lid closed during troubleshooting burns and avoid touching hot surfaces.
- Check pellets: Use fresh, dry, hardwood pellets. Replace any damp or crumbly pellets.
- Verify pellet feed: Observe pellet drop into the firepot during operation. If feed is sparse, check for partial auger jams or a weak auger motor.
- Inspect combustion fan: Ensure the fan is running strongly. Clean any grease or debris from the fan intake and exhaust paths.
- Reduce heat loss: Cook with the lid closed and shield the grill from strong wind. Inspect the lid gasket (if equipped) for damage and replace if leaking badly.
- Calibrate temperature: Compare the controller reading with a reliable grill thermometer. If there is a large discrepancy, the RTD probe may need cleaning or replacement.
