Possible Causes
Auger not feeding pellets during prime, Control board not detecting pellet flow, User not completing prime cycle correctly, Auger jam at startup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the grill is empty of food and cool before priming.
- Follow prime instructions: Refer to the Broil King manual for the correct prime procedure. Typically, you must run the auger until pellets begin to drop into the firepot, then exit prime mode.
- Verify pellet drop: With the heat diffuser removed, watch the firepot during prime. If no pellets appear after several minutes, the auger is not feeding.
- Check for jam: If the auger does not turn, unplug the grill and inspect the auger motor and shaft for jams as described in auger fault procedures.
- Restart controller: Power cycle the grill and attempt the prime again after clearing any jams.
