Rust forming inside cook box or on grates

Safety first: Work on a cool grill and wear gloves when handling rusty surfaces.

• Remove rust: Use a grill brush or fine steel wool to remove surface rust from grates and interior surfaces.
• Season grates: For cast iron or steel grates, apply a thin coat of high-smoke-point cooking oil and heat the grill to season and protect the metal.
• Dry storage: Keep the grill covered with a Broil King cover when not in use and avoid leaving water in the cook box.
• Replace severely rusted parts: If grates or internal panels are heavily pitted or flaking, replace them with Broil King-compatible components.
