Possible Causes
Grease fire in cook chamber, Stuck auger feeding too many pellets, Faulty temperature sensor reading low, Controller output stuck on
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you suspect a grease fire, keep the lid closed, turn the grill OFF, and unplug it. Do NOT use water on a grease fire.
- Allow full cool-down: Wait until the grill is completely cool before opening and inspecting.
- Inspect for grease buildup: Remove grates and drip tray. Clean out any heavy grease deposits, especially near the firepot and drip channels.
- Check auger operation: During a test run, observe whether the auger stops feeding when the set temperature is reached. If it continues feeding excessively, the controller or auger relay may be faulty.
- Verify temperature probe: Inspect and clean the RTD probe. Replace if readings are obviously inaccurate compared to a known-good thermometer.
- Replace controller if needed: If the auger runs continuously regardless of temperature, replace the main control board.
