Possible Causes
Wet or poor-quality pellets, Insufficient pellet feed, Combustion fan not running at full speed, Leaking lid or door gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill before internal inspection.
- Check pellets: Empty the hopper and inspect pellets. Replace any damp, swollen, or crumbly pellets with fresh, dry hardwood pellets.
- Clean firepot and burn area: Remove ash buildup that can smother the fire and reduce heat output.
- Verify fan operation: On startup, listen for strong airflow from the combustion fan. If airflow is weak or intermittent, inspect and clean the fan, and replace if necessary.
- Inspect lid seal: Check the lid gasket (if equipped) for gaps or damage. Excessive air leaks can prevent the grill from reaching temperature, especially in cold weather.
- Adjust P-setting (if available): In very cold or windy conditions, a lower P-setting may help maintain higher temperatures. Follow the Camp Chef manual for P-setting adjustments.
