Possible Causes
Jammed auger with swollen pellets, Failed auger motor, Stripped auger motor gearbox
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and ensure it is completely cool before working near the auger or fire pot.
- Check pellet condition: Open the hopper and inspect pellets. If they are swollen, crumbly, or damp, empty the hopper completely and vacuum out dust. Moist pellets can swell and jam the auger.
- Clear auger jam: Remove the hopper guard and access panel to reach the auger. Disconnect the auger motor from the auger shaft (usually a set screw or pin). Try to manually rotate the auger with pliers. If it is stuck, remove the auger from the tube and scrape out compacted pellets and sawdust. Clean the tube thoroughly.
- Test auger motor: With the auger removed, plug in the grill and start a feed cycle while observing the auger motor (keep hands clear). If the motor does not turn or only hums, it is likely failed.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the auger, reconnect the motor, and ensure alignment. Refill with fresh, dry pellets and run a prime cycle. If ERR2 persists with a free auger, replace the auger motor.
