Possible Causes
Disconnected RTD probe harness, Broken RTD temperature sensor, Damaged probe wiring insulation from heat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and let it cool before touching the temperature probe or wiring.
- Locate the RTD probe: The grill temperature sensor (RTD) is usually a metal rod protruding into the cook chamber from the side wall.
- Inspect wiring: Trace the probe wires from inside the cook chamber through the body to the control board. Look for cuts, melted insulation, or loose connectors.
- Reseat connector: At the control board, unplug and firmly reconnect the RTD probe connector to ensure a solid connection.
- Check for physical damage: If the probe is bent, broken, or heavily corroded, it should be replaced.
- Replace RTD probe: Remove the mounting screw or nut holding the probe, pull the old probe and wire harness out, route the new probe harness the same way, and secure the probe in the original location. Avoid pinching the wire when reinstalling panels.
