Possible Causes
Grease fire in cook chamber, Excessive pellet feed, RTD probe exposed to direct flame
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you suspect a grease fire, do not open the lid fully and do not use water. Turn off the grill and unplug it. Keep the lid closed to smother flames. Have a Class B or K fire extinguisher nearby.
- Allow to cool: Once the grill has cooled completely, open the lid and inspect for signs of a grease fire (heavy soot, burned grease).
- Clean thoroughly: Remove grates, drip tray, and diffuser. Scrape and clean all grease channels and the grease bucket. Built-up grease is a major fire risk.
- Check pellet feed: Inspect the fire pot for a large pile of pellets. If present, clean out and verify the auger is cycling normally (not running constantly).
- Inspect RTD probe: Ensure the probe is not bent into direct flame path and is firmly mounted.
