Possible Causes
Burned-out hot rod igniter, Loose igniter connection, Excessive ash insulating igniter from pellets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the grill. Allow it to cool fully before working near the fire pot.
- Clean fire pot: Remove ash and debris from the fire pot so pellets can contact the igniter.
- Visual check: Inspect the igniter tip for cracks or missing sections.
- Test glow: With the fire pot empty, plug in the grill and start ignition while observing the igniter through the fire pot. If it does not glow red within a few minutes, replace the igniter.
- Replace igniter: Disconnect power, remove the igniter mounting hardware, disconnect its wires at the control board, and install a new Char‑Griller compatible hot rod igniter.
