Possible Causes
Weak or burned-out hot rod igniter, Igniter not positioned correctly in fire pot, Excessive ash insulating pellets from igniter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the grill. Allow all smoke to clear and the unit to cool before servicing.
- Clean fire pot: Remove all pellets and ash from the fire pot. Vacuum thoroughly.
- Check igniter position: The igniter tip should protrude slightly into the fire pot holes where pellets drop. Adjust mounting if it is too far back.
- Test igniter glow: With an empty fire pot, plug in and start ignition while observing the igniter. If it does not glow red, replace the hot rod igniter.
- Manual light (temporary): As a temporary workaround, you can light pellets manually with a starter cube following the manufacturer’s instructions, but replace the igniter for normal operation.
