Possible Causes
Failed auger motor, Jammed auger tube, Loose auger motor connector, Stripped auger motor gearbox
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and let it cool. Wear gloves when handling metal parts.
- Step 1 – Listen for motor: During a startup attempt, listen near the hopper for the auger motor. A humming sound without movement suggests a jam; no sound suggests a power or motor failure.
- Step 2 – Check for jams: Empty the hopper and remove the access panel to the auger. Attempt to rotate the auger shaft by hand from the fire pot side. If it is locked, remove the auger and clear compacted pellets as described in the auger jam procedure.
- Step 3 – Inspect motor and coupling: Verify that the motor shaft is firmly attached to the auger via shear pin or set screw. Replace any broken or missing hardware.
- Step 4 – Replace auger motor if failed: If the motor does not run at all when powered by the controller (and other loads work), replace it with a Cuisinart‑compatible auger motor assembly.
