Possible Causes

Burned out igniter element, Loose igniter connection, Igniter not positioned correctly in fire pot, Failed igniter circuit on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the grill and ensure the fire pot is cool before working near the igniter.

  • Step 1 – Confirm pellet feed: Start an ignition cycle and verify that pellets are dropping into the fire pot. If not, address auger issues first.
  • Step 2 – Check for heat at igniter: After 3–5 minutes of an ignition attempt (with pellets removed for this test), carefully place your hand above the fire pot to feel for heat. No heat indicates a failed igniter or power issue.
  • Step 3 – Inspect wiring: With the grill unplugged, access the control box and verify the igniter connector is firmly attached to the control board and that the wire is not damaged.
  • Step 4 – Replace igniter: Remove grates, drip tray, and heat baffle. Remove the fire pot screws and gently lift it to access the igniter. Slide out the old hot rod and install a new Cuisinart‑compatible igniter, routing the wire through the original grommet and reconnecting it to the board.
  • Step 5 – Test ignition: Reassemble, plug in, and start the grill. Confirm that pellets ignite within a few minutes.
