Possible Causes
RTD probe partially failing, Excessive wind, Incorrect P‑setting for conditions, Control board regulation issues
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Make adjustments only when the grill is stable and you can monitor it.
- Step 1 – Shield from wind: Move the grill to a more sheltered location or use a windbreak. Wind entering the exhaust or intake can cause large swings.
- Step 2 – Clean RTD probe: Wipe the temperature probe to ensure accurate readings.
- Step 3 – Adjust P‑setting: If your Cuisinart model has P‑settings, increase the P‑value slightly to reduce pellet feed frequency in mild weather, or decrease it in cold weather to prevent flameouts.
- Step 4 – Verify with external thermometer: Use a separate probe to confirm actual temperature. If the grill’s display is erratic compared to the external probe, the RTD or control board may need replacement.
