Possible Causes

Failed glow igniter rod, Loose igniter wiring at control board, Blown igniter fuse on main PCB, Shorted igniter causing controller protection

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the Enders pellet grill OFF, unplug it from mains power, and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Never work on a hot fire pot.

  • Check for glow: Remove the cooking grates and heat diffuser to expose the fire pot. Plug the grill back in, start an ignition cycle with the lid open, and watch the fire pot for 3–5 minutes. A healthy igniter will glow red/orange in the bottom of the pot. If there is no glow, proceed.
  • Inspect igniter wiring: Turn power OFF and unplug. Access the underside or rear service panel where the igniter connects to the control board. Verify the igniter plug is fully seated on the control board terminal labeled "IGNITER" or similar. Look for burnt connectors or melted insulation.
  • Test igniter resistance: Disconnect the igniter leads from the board. Using a multimeter set to ohms, measure across the igniter leads. A typical Enders glow rod will read in the tens of ohms (often 40–80 Ω). An open circuit (OL) or 0 Ω indicates a failed igniter.
  • Check fuses: Some Enders controllers have an inline fuse or board-mounted fuse for the igniter circuit. Inspect and replace only with the same rating if blown. If the new fuse blows immediately, the igniter is likely shorted.
  • Replace the igniter: Remove the retaining screw or bracket holding the igniter tube in the fire pot. Gently slide the igniter out from the fire pot and through the body. Install a compatible Enders glow igniter rod, routing the wires away from hot surfaces. Reconnect to the control board.
  • Test operation: Reassemble the fire pot components, plug in the grill, and run a startup. Confirm the igniter glows and pellets ignite within 5–8 minutes.

If the igniter tests good but Er01 persists, the main control board may have a failed igniter relay and should be inspected or replaced by a qualified technician.
