Possible Causes

Jammed auger with swollen pellets, Failed auger motor, Sheared auger motor pin or coupler, Loose auger motor wiring at control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the grill OFF, unplug it, and let it cool completely. Empty the hopper before working on the auger.

  • Check hopper and auger movement: Remove pellets from the hopper. With the grill unplugged, reach into the hopper and try to rotate the visible end of the auger by hand (if accessible). It should move with firm but not excessive resistance. If it is completely stuck, you likely have a jam.
  • Inspect auger motor operation: Remove the side or bottom access panel to expose the auger motor. Plug the grill in, start a cook cycle, and watch the motor. It should turn in short intervals. If it hums but does not turn, or does nothing at all, shut the grill off and unplug.
  • Clear auger jam: Disconnect the auger motor from the auger shaft (usually a set screw or cotter pin). Slide the auger out from the burn pot side or hopper side, depending on the Enders model. Scrape off compacted pellets, sawdust, and any rust. If pellets are swollen from moisture, thoroughly clean the tube and dry it.
  • Check motor and coupler: Inspect the auger motor shaft and coupler for rounding or sheared pins. Replace damaged couplers or pins. Test the motor by powering the grill and observing if the motor shaft turns freely without the auger attached.
  • Reassemble and test: Reinstall the cleaned auger into the tube, reconnect the motor, and ensure all fasteners are tight. Refill the hopper with dry, food-grade pellets only. Run a priming cycle if your Enders controller supports it, then start the grill and confirm consistent pellet feed.

If the auger is free and the motor does not run at all, the auger motor or the main control board may need replacement.
