Display shows Er03 and the grill shuts down; fan does not run or runs intermittently.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Power OFF and unplug the grill. Allow it to cool fully before accessing internal components.
- Access the combustion fan: Remove the rear or bottom service panel to locate the combustion (exhaust) fan. On Enders pellet grills, this is typically a round blower mounted near the fire pot area.
- Inspect for obstructions: Check the fan blades and housing for ash buildup, grease, or foreign objects. Clean with a soft brush and vacuum. Ensure the fan spins freely by hand.
- Check wiring: Verify the fan connector is firmly seated on the control board terminal labeled "FAN" or similar. Inspect the harness for cuts, burns, or pinched sections.
- Test fan operation: With the fan connected and the grill reassembled enough for safe operation, plug in and start a cycle. Observe whether the fan starts. If it only twitches or hums, the motor may be failing.
- Measure fan voltage: If you are comfortable with electrical testing, use a multimeter to check for the rated voltage (often 120V or 230V AC, or 12V/24V DC depending on model) at the fan connector when the controller calls for fan operation. Voltage present but no rotation indicates a bad fan.
- Replace the fan: Remove mounting screws, disconnect the wiring, and install a compatible Enders combustion fan/blower. Route wires away from hot surfaces and moving parts.
If there is no voltage at the fan output when the controller should be running it, the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
