Possible Causes
Insufficient pellet feed, Wet or poor-quality pellets, Excessive ash in fire pot, Combustion fan not maintaining airflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the grill OFF and unplug it. Open the lid and allow any unburned pellets to cool completely before handling.
- Inspect fire pot: Remove grates and heat diffuser. Check the fire pot for heavy ash buildup or a mound of unburned pellets. Vacuum out ash and remove excess pellets by hand.
- Check pellet quality: Examine pellets in the hopper. If they are swollen, crumbly, or damp, discard them. Refill with fresh, dry, food-grade hardwood pellets.
- Verify auger feed: With the grill reassembled enough for safe operation, plug it in and start a cycle. Observe whether pellets drop into the fire pot at regular intervals. If feed is inconsistent, inspect the auger for partial jams and clean as needed.
- Confirm fan operation: Listen for the combustion fan. Weak or no airflow can cause flame-outs. Clean the fan and air passages, and ensure the exhaust and intake vents are not blocked.
- Restart procedure: After cleaning and correcting issues, run the manufacturer-recommended startup sequence: typically, start on SMOKE or LOW with the lid open until you see a stable flame, then close the lid and set your desired temperature.
Repeated Er06 flame-outs after cleaning and using good pellets may indicate a failing auger motor, combustion fan, or control board that is not maintaining proper fuel/air balance.
