Possible Causes
RTD temperature probe unplugged from control board, Broken RTD probe wire, Corroded RTD connector at control board, Failed RTD temperature probe
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill from power before removing panels or touching wiring. Allow the grill to cool completely.
- Check RTD connection: Open the controller area and locate the RTD (temperature sensor) plug on the Green Mountain Grills control board. Make sure the two‑wire RTD harness is fully seated and not loose.
- Inspect RTD cable: Follow the RTD cable from the controller into the cook chamber wall. Look for cuts, melted insulation, or pinched spots where the cable passes through the body.
- Clean connectors: If there is corrosion on the RTD plug or control board header, gently clean with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect firmly.
- Test continuity: With a multimeter set to ohms, disconnect the RTD from the board and measure resistance across the two RTD leads. An open (infinite) reading indicates a failed probe that must be replaced.
- Replace RTD probe: If damaged or open, remove the mounting screw(s) holding the RTD probe inside the cook chamber, pull the wire through the wall grommet, and install a new OEM Green Mountain Grills RTD temperature probe, routing the wire away from direct flame and hot metal.
