Possible Causes
Failed combustion fan motor, Fan blades obstructed by grease or debris, Loose fan connector at control board, Fan wiring damaged or shorted
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the grill to cool completely. Do not run the grill with the fan housing removed.
- Access combustion fan: Remove the side or rear service panel (depending on GMG model) to expose the combustion fan assembly mounted near the firebox.
- Inspect fan blades: Check for grease buildup, ash, or foreign objects preventing the fan from spinning freely. Clean the blades and housing with a brush and vacuum.
- Check wiring and connector: Ensure the fan plug is firmly connected to the control board and that the wires are not pinched or burned.
- Spin test: With power disconnected, spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If it is stiff or seized, the fan motor is likely bad.
- Power test: Reconnect power, start the grill with the panel off, and observe whether the fan starts. If the board is sending power but the fan does not run, replace the combustion fan with an OEM Green Mountain Grills combustion/draft fan assembly.
