Possible Causes
Failed Green Mountain Grills control board, Power surge damage, Corrupted firmware, Burned trace or component on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before touching the control board or wiring.
- Power cycle: Disconnect the grill from power for at least 5 minutes, then plug back in and see if the error clears.
- Inspect board visually: Remove the controller from the front panel and inspect the PCB for burnt spots, bulging capacitors, or loose components.
- Check all harnesses: Ensure all connectors (RTD, fan, auger, igniter, power input) are firmly seated. A loose harness can sometimes trigger board errors.
- Verify supply voltage: Use a multimeter to confirm that the incoming AC voltage to the board is within the specified range for your GMG model (typically 110–120V in North America). Low or unstable voltage can damage the board.
- Replace control board: If Er6 persists and other components test good, replace the control board with the correct OEM Green Mountain Grills controller for your model. Transfer each connector one at a time to avoid miswiring.
