Possible Causes
Igniter burned out, Firepot full of ash blocking igniter, No pellet feed to firepot, Combustion fan not running during startup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and ensure it is completely cool before working inside.
- Clean firepot thoroughly: Remove grates, grease tray, and heat shield. Vacuum all ash and debris from the firepot and around the igniter.
- Verify pellet feed: Start the grill and watch for pellets dropping into the firepot. If none appear, troubleshoot the auger system.
- Check igniter operation: In a dim area, start the grill and look for the igniter glowing red/orange. If it does not glow, test its resistance and replace if open.
- Confirm fan operation: Listen for the combustion fan during startup. If silent, inspect and replace the fan as needed.
- Manual light test: As a temporary test only, you can light a small handful of pellets in the firepot with a long lighter to confirm that the grill will run once a fire is established. Do this only with the igniter unplugged and follow GMG safety guidelines.
