How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you see smoke from the hopper, immediately turn off and unplug the grill. Keep the hopper lid closed. Have a fire extinguisher ready. Do not use water.
- Allow to cool: Wait until all signs of smoke and heat have dissipated.
- Empty hopper: Remove pellets and inspect for charring. Discard any burnt pellets.
- Clean auger tube: Remove the auger and clear all pellets and fines from the tube.
- Inspect combustion fan: Ensure the fan is working properly to maintain positive pressure in the firebox.
- Follow proper shutdown: Always use the GMG shutdown cycle so the fan can cool the firebox and prevent backburn.
