Control board component overheating, Shorted wiring harness, Fan or auger motor drawing excessive current, Power surge damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately turn off and unplug the grill if you smell burning electronics. Do not continue to operate until inspected.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the controller and side panel to inspect all wiring harnesses for melted insulation or burn marks.
- Check control board: Look for burnt components or discoloration on the PCB.
- Test motors: Disconnect fan and auger motors and test them individually for smooth operation and normal current draw (if you have the tools).
- Replace damaged parts: Replace any burnt wiring, motors, or the control board with OEM GMG components. Do not attempt to repair burnt PCBs.
- Use surge protection: Consider using a quality surge protector to protect the grill electronics.
