Possible Causes
Undersized or faulty extension cord, Tripped GFCI outlet, Loose power cord connection at grill, Internal power supply failure on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before inspecting internal wiring. Do not bypass safety devices.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Check outlet and breaker: Verify the wall outlet has power by plugging in another appliance. Reset any tripped GFCI or breaker.
- 2. Avoid long or light-gauge extension cords: Plug the grill directly into a properly grounded outlet. If an extension cord is necessary, use a heavy-gauge outdoor cord (12–14 AWG) and keep it as short as possible.
- 3. Inspect power cord: Examine the grill's power cord for cuts, burns, or crushed sections. Ensure the plug fits snugly in the outlet and at the grill's inlet.
- 4. Check internal connections: With the grill unplugged, remove the control panel cover. Confirm that the main power leads are firmly attached to the control board and any inline connectors are secure.
- 5. Test on a different circuit: Move the grill to another known-good outlet on a different circuit to rule out house wiring issues.
- 6. Replace control board if needed: If ERR5 persists on a good circuit with a good cord, the internal power supply on the control board may be failing. Replace the control board with a Grilla Grills-compatible unit.
When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable working around mains voltage or replacing the control board, contact a qualified technician.
