Possible Causes
Broken RTD probe element, Disconnected RTD plug at control board, Damaged RTD wiring harness, Corroded RTD connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before accessing wiring. Allow the grill to cool before touching the probe.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Inspect the RTD probe: Locate the stainless probe inside the cook chamber. Check for physical damage, broken tip, or severe corrosion.
- 2. Clean the probe: Wipe off heavy grease or carbon with a soft cloth and mild cleaner. Do not use abrasive pads that can damage the sensor.
- 3. Check wiring and connector: Trace the probe wires through the body to the control board. Ensure the connector is fully seated and free of corrosion. Reseat the connector several times to improve contact.
- 4. Wiggle test: With the grill powered on, gently wiggle the probe wire near the connector and observe the display. If the temperature reading jumps or ERR6 appears/disappears, the harness or connector is likely faulty.
- 5. Replace RTD probe: If the probe is damaged or ERR6 persists, remove the mounting hardware, pull the probe and wire through the wall, and install a new Grilla Grills-compatible RTD probe. Route the wire away from hot surfaces and sharp edges.
When to call a technician: If a new probe does not resolve ERR6, the control board's probe input may be defective and require professional diagnosis or replacement.
