Possible Causes
Failed combustion fan motor, Obstruction preventing fan from spinning, Loose fan wiring harness, Fan blades clogged with grease and ash
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and allow it to cool. Do not place fingers near the fan blades when power is connected.
- Step 1 – Access fan: Remove the side or bottom access panel to expose the combustion fan assembly.
- Step 2 – Check for obstructions: Spin the fan blades gently by hand. They should rotate freely without scraping. Remove any foil, ash, or debris that may be blocking movement.
- Step 3 – Clean fan: Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove grease and ash from the fan blades and housing. Excess buildup can overload the motor.
- Step 4 – Inspect wiring: Verify the fan’s connector is fully seated on the control board and that wires are not pinched or burned. Reseat the connector.
- Step 5 – Power test: With the fan area clear, plug in the grill and start a cook cycle with the lid open. Observe whether the fan starts spinning. If it does not move or only hums, unplug the grill and replace the fan motor.
- Step 6 – Replace fan: Remove mounting screws, disconnect the fan, and install a new OEM Landmann combustion fan. Ensure correct rotation direction and secure all fasteners.
- Step 7 – Further diagnosis: If a new fan does not run and Er6 remains, the control board’s fan driver circuit may be defective and should be serviced by a professional.
