Possible Causes
Moisture intrusion into control panel, Damaged membrane keypad, Loose display/control ribbon cable, Failed control board microcontroller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel. Avoid using metal tools near live circuits.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Unplug the grill for 10 minutes, then plug back in and check if the error clears. Temporary logic faults can sometimes be reset.
- Step 2 – Inspect for moisture: Check the front of the control panel for condensation or water spots. If the grill was left uncovered in rain, allow the panel to dry for 24 hours in a warm, dry location.
- Step 3 – Open control housing: Remove the screws securing the control panel and gently pull it out. Inspect the ribbon cable between the display/keypad and the main board. Reseat the cable firmly.
- Step 4 – Check for corrosion: Look for green or white corrosion on connectors. Clean lightly with contact cleaner and a soft brush.
- Step 5 – Test keypad: With the panel reinstalled and power restored, test each button. If some or all buttons remain unresponsive and Er9 persists, the keypad or board is likely defective.
- Step 6 – Replace control panel assembly: Install a new OEM Landmann control panel or main board assembly as specified for your model.
