Possible Causes
Pellet jam in auger tube, Failed auger motor, Broken auger motor coupler, Loose auger motor wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and ensure the firepot is cool before working on the auger system.
- Step 1 – Confirm control operation: Start a cook cycle and listen for the auger motor. If you hear no clicking or humming, the motor may not be receiving power.
- Step 2 – Check wiring: Access the auger motor compartment and verify the motor connector is firmly attached to the control board harness.
- Step 3 – Clear jam: Empty the hopper and use a wooden dowel to break up compacted pellets at the auger intake. If the auger still will not turn, remove the motor and manually extract the auger shaft for cleaning.
- Step 4 – Test motor: With the motor removed, briefly power the grill and observe if the motor shaft turns during a feed cycle. If not, replace the auger motor.
- Step 5 – Reassemble: Reinstall the cleaned auger and new or tested motor, ensuring the coupler or shear pin is correctly fitted.
