Controller shows ErA and auger does not feed pellets during startup

Safety first: Unplug the grill before working near the auger, hopper, or internal wiring. Keep fingers clear of the auger flighting.

• Step 1 – Confirm auger not turning: Remove pellets from the hopper. With the grill plugged in and started, look down into the hopper (lid open) to see if the auger shaft is turning. If not, stop and unplug the grill.
• Step 2 – Check for pellet jam: With the hopper empty and grill unplugged, use a wooden dowel to gently probe the auger area for compacted pellets. Vacuum out pellet dust. If the auger is jammed, you may need to remove the auger motor and pull the auger shaft out of the tube.
• Step 3 – Inspect auger motor: Access the underside or rear of the hopper to locate the auger motor. Check the motor mounting bolts and the set screw on the auger coupler. Tighten any loose hardware. Verify the motor wiring connector is fully seated on the control board.
• Step 4 – Test auger motor: With the auger shaft disconnected from the motor and the grill plugged in, start the grill and observe if the motor shaft turns. If it does not turn or only hums, replace the auger motor.
• Step 5 – Reassemble and test: Reinstall the auger shaft, ensuring it spins freely in the auger tube. Reattach the motor and coupler, refill the hopper with dry pellets, and test operation.
