Possible Causes

Grease fire in cook chamber, Failed RTD temperature probe reading too high, Control board temperature calibration fault, Stuck auger feeding excessive pellets

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the grill from power and keep the lid closed if you suspect a grease fire. Do not use water on a grease fire.

  • Step 1 – Power cycle: After the grill has cooled completely, plug it back in and turn the controller OFF then ON. Clear the ErH code and attempt to start again while monitoring temperature.
  • Step 2 – Inspect for grease fire damage: Remove grates and heat baffle. Check the burn pot, drip pan, and interior for heavy grease buildup or signs of charring. Thoroughly clean all grease and ash before next use.
  • Step 3 – Check RTD temperature probe: Locate the stainless temperature probe on the inside wall of the cook chamber. Inspect wiring from the probe to the main control board for damage, melted insulation, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector at the control board. If the probe is bent, heavily corroded, or wiring is damaged, replace the RTD probe.
  • Step 4 – Verify pellet feed: With the grill cool and unplugged, remove pellets from the hopper. Inspect the auger for jamming or excessive pellet dust. A stuck auger can cause erratic feeding and temperature spikes. Clear any jam and vacuum out dust.
  • Step 5 – Controller check: If ErH persists with a known-good RTD probe and clean grill, the main control board may be misreading temperature. Inspect the board for burn marks or corrosion. Replacement of the control board is typically required if faulty.

When to stop: If you see flames in the cook chamber or smoke from the control panel, disconnect power immediately and contact a qualified technician or Louisiana Grills support.
