Possible Causes
Broken RTD probe element, Disconnected RTD plug at controller, Severed RTD cable, Failed control board sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before removing the controller or handling wiring.
- Step 1 – Check RTD connection: Remove the controller and locate the RTD connector. Ensure it is fully seated. Disconnect and reconnect to ensure good contact.
- Step 2 – Inspect cable and probe: Look for any cuts, burn marks, or pinch points along the RTD cable. Inspect the probe inside the cook chamber for physical damage.
- Step 3 – Resistance test (optional): With the RTD unplugged and grill off, measure resistance across the RTD leads. An infinite reading indicates an open circuit and a failed probe.
- Step 4 – Replace RTD: If the probe is open or visibly damaged, install a new Louisiana Grills-compatible RTD probe and route the cable away from hot surfaces.
- Step 5 – Evaluate controller: If a new RTD does not clear L1, the control board may have a failed sensor input and should be replaced.
