Possible Causes

User-selected P1 program, Control board set to extended pause mode, Intended low-and-slow smoke profile

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Note: On some Masterbuilt pellet controllers, P-settings (P1–P7) adjust the pellet feed timing and are not error codes.

  • 1. Verify mode:
    • Check the user manual for your specific Masterbuilt model to confirm P1 is a smoke/low feed setting.
  • 2. Adjust P-setting:
    • Use the +/- or dedicated P button to change from P1 to a higher P-number or to a standard temperature setting (e.g., 225°F, 275°F).
  • 3. Observe operation:
    • If the grill now feeds pellets more frequently and temperature rises, the unit is functioning normally.
