Pellets back-burning into hopper (smoke or smoldering pellets in hopper)

Safety first: If you see smoke from the hopper, unplug the grill immediately and keep the hopper lid closed. Use a fire extinguisher if flames appear. Do not use water.

• 1. Allow to cool completely:
  • Do not open the hopper until all smoke stops and the unit is cool.
• 2. Remove pellets:
  • Once cool, empty the hopper and auger tube of all pellets.
• 3. Inspect auger and fire pot:
  • Check for charring or damage in the auger tube.
  • Clean the fire pot and surrounding area.
• 4. Verify shutdown procedure:
  • Always allow the grill to complete its automatic cool-down cycle before unplugging.
• 5. Check fan and seals:
  • Ensure the combustion fan runs during shutdown.
  • Inspect for air leaks that could reverse airflow; repair as needed.
