Possible Causes
Loose Wi-Fi module connector, Failed Wi-Fi module, Damaged antenna cable, Firmware incompatibility between controller and Wi-Fi module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the grill before opening the controller compartment.
- Locate Wi-Fi module: On Memphis Wi-Fi–enabled models, the Wi-Fi module is typically a small board or dongle connected to the main controller via a ribbon or plug-in connector.
- Check connections: Gently unplug and replug the Wi-Fi module connector. Ensure it is fully seated and that no pins are bent. Inspect the antenna cable and connector for kinks or breaks.
- Inspect module: Look for signs of moisture intrusion or corrosion on the Wi-Fi board. If present, dry the area thoroughly and consider replacing the module.
- Firmware check: Using Memphis mobile app or support documentation, verify that your controller firmware is up to date. Some ER-7 conditions are resolved by updating firmware via USB or app, following Memphis instructions.
- Test signal: Move the grill closer to your router or temporarily remove any metal obstructions around the antenna. Power the grill back on and attempt to reconnect via the app.
- Replace module if needed: If ER-7 persists and the grill functions normally otherwise, replace the Wi-Fi module with a Memphis-compatible replacement and re-pair it with your network.
