Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display and main board, Damaged touch panel or keypad, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Failed main controller UI interface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or display bezel.
- Inspect control panel: Check the front display for cracks, water spots under the lens, or signs of impact. If the panel is physically damaged, replacement is recommended.
- Check ribbon cable: Remove the controller bezel to access the back of the display. Locate the flat ribbon cable or harness connecting the display/keypad to the main board. Carefully unplug and reinsert it, ensuring it is straight and fully seated.
- Dry moisture: If the panel has been exposed to rain or heavy cleaning, allow it to dry completely. You can gently blow dry air (not high heat) into the panel area and leave it open in a dry environment for several hours.
- Visual board inspection: Look for corrosion or burnt components on the display board and main controller. Any significant damage usually requires board replacement.
- Test operation: Reassemble the panel, plug the grill back in, and test the buttons or touch interface. If ER-8 remains and no inputs are recognized, replace the display/keypad assembly first. If that does not resolve it, the main controller may also need replacement.
