Possible Causes
Pellet hopper nearly empty, Pellets bridging above auger intake, Dust buildup causing poor pellet flow, Faulty pellet level sensor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Use heat-resistant gloves when working near a hot grill.
- Check hopper level: Open the hopper and visually confirm pellet level. Refill with dry, high-quality hardwood pellets if low.
- Break pellet bridges: Sometimes pellets form a bridge and stop feeding even when the hopper appears half full. Use a wooden dowel or gloved hand to stir pellets and ensure they fall freely into the auger intake.
- Remove dust: Excess pellet dust can cause poor flow. When the grill is cool, empty the hopper and vacuum out dust and fines. Refill with fresh pellets.
- Sensor inspection (if equipped): Some Memphis models use a pellet level sensor. Locate the sensor in the hopper wall and ensure it is clean and not covered in dust or resin. Wipe gently with a dry cloth.
- Monitor operation: After refilling and cleaning, restart the grill and watch for stable operation. If LOW PELLET appears despite a full hopper and good flow, the level sensor or controller input may be faulty and require replacement.
