Possible Causes
Failed internal RTD sensor, Broken sensor wiring harness, Connector pulled loose from controller, Controller sensor input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the grill and allow it to cool before accessing internal wiring.
- Locate internal sensor: Memphis grills use an internal RTD probe mounted in the cook chamber. Identify its location and cable routing.
- Inspect cable: Look for cuts, melted insulation, or pinch points where the cable passes through the cabinet. Repair or replace damaged sections.
- Check controller connection: At the control board, find the internal sensor connector and reseat it. Ensure it is fully engaged and free of corrosion.
- Test sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance across its leads at room temperature. Compare to Memphis specifications; an open or shorted reading indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace sensor if needed: Remove the mounting hardware inside the cook chamber, pull the sensor out, route the new sensor cable along the original path, and reconnect to the controller.
- Retest: Power the grill back on and verify that the SENSOR error is cleared and the displayed temperature tracks ambient.
