Meat Probe or Auxiliary Temperature Probe Fault
Display shows TEMP PROBE error and grill will not maintain set temperature

Possible Causes
Shorted or open meat probe, Damaged probe cable, Incorrect probe plugged into jack, Faulty probe jack on controller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before plugging or unplugging probes if the controller behaves erratically.
- Remove accessory probes: Unplug any meat or auxiliary probes from the front panel jacks. Power cycle the grill and see if the error clears.
- Inspect probe and cable: Check the stainless probe tip and cable for kinks, cuts, or melted insulation. If damaged, replace the probe with a Memphis-compatible meat probe.
- Test probe resistance: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the probe plug. A typical probe will show a finite resistance (often 1–100 kΩ depending on type). An open or zero reading indicates a bad probe.
- Check jacks: Inspect the probe jacks on the controller for grease, moisture, or corrosion. Clean gently with contact cleaner and a cotton swab.
- Test with known-good probe: Plug in a new or known-good probe and verify that the controller reads a reasonable temperature. If the TEMP PROBE error persists with a good probe, the jack or controller input is likely faulty and the controller may need replacement.
