Possible Causes
Weak or failing igniter, Very low ambient temperature and wind, Wet pellets reducing combustion, Combustion fan not providing enough air
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the firepot is cool before cleaning or relighting.
- Step 1 – Clean firepot and burn area: Remove grates and drip tray. Vacuum ash and pellets from the firepot and surrounding area.
- Step 2 – Use fresh pellets: Empty the hopper if pellets are old or damp. Refill with fresh, dry hardwood pellets.
- Step 3 – Check igniter and fan: Start a cycle and confirm that the igniter glows and the combustion fan runs. Replace any failed components.
- Step 4 – Shield from wind: In cold or windy conditions, position the grill out of direct wind and allow extra time for preheat.
- Step 5 – Manual assist: If necessary, manually light a small starter in the firepot following Monument's instructions to help the grill reach temperature, then monitor closely.
