Possible Causes
Stuck keypad button on Monument control panel, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Corrupted controller firmware, Internal control board failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Unplug the grill for at least 5 minutes to allow the controller to fully discharge. Plug back in and check if Er8 clears.
- Step 2 – Inspect keypad: Check the front of the control panel for stuck or damaged buttons. Press each button several times to ensure free movement. Wipe the panel with a dry cloth to remove grease and moisture.
- Step 3 – Check for moisture inside: Remove the control panel and inspect the back of the keypad and circuit board for condensation or water. If present, dry thoroughly with a low‑heat hair dryer or allow to air dry for 24 hours before reassembly.
- Step 4 – Reseat connectors: Unplug and re‑plug all harness connectors to the main control board to ensure solid electrical contact.
- Step 5 – Replace control panel: If Er8 persists and buttons do not respond correctly, replace the Monument control panel/main control board assembly as a unit.
