Possible Causes
Hot rod igniter not heating, No pellets delivered to firepot, Combustion fan not running, Firepot full of ash or old pellets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the firepot is cool and the grill is unplugged before cleaning or inspecting components.
- Step 1 – Clean firepot: Remove grates and drip tray. Vacuum out all ash and pellets from the firepot.
- Step 2 – Confirm pellet feed: With the firepot empty, run a prime cycle and verify that pellets drop into the pot. If not, troubleshoot the auger system.
- Step 3 – Check igniter: Start an ignition cycle with the lid open and observe the firepot for 3–5 minutes. If the igniter does not glow red or produce heat, test and replace the hot rod igniter as needed.
- Step 4 – Verify fan operation: Listen for the combustion fan during startup. If silent, inspect and replace the fan motor if necessary.
- Step 5 – Manual light (temporary): If the igniter has failed but pellets and fan are working, you can temporarily light the grill manually: place a small amount of starter gel or a food‑safe fire starter in the firepot, light it with a long match, allow it to burn for a minute, then start the grill with the lid open until the flame is stable. Use caution and follow Monument's manual lighting instructions.
