Possible Causes
Empty hopper, Pellet bridge or tunnel preventing pellets from reaching auger, Wet or swollen pellets, Auger motor not turning
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep the lid closed if there is still an active fire to avoid flare‑ups. If the fire has gone out, follow safe restart procedures.
- Step 1 – Refill hopper: Check the Monument hopper and refill with dry pellets if low or empty.
- Step 2 – Break pellet bridges: Use a clean, dry tool or your hand to stir pellets in the hopper. Break up any clumps or bridges that may be hanging above the auger intake.
- Step 3 – Remove bad pellets: If pellets feel soft, crumble easily, or appear swollen, remove them and clean the hopper. Only use fresh, dry pellets.
- Step 4 – Confirm auger feed: With the grill cool and firepot empty, run a prime/feed cycle and verify that pellets are being delivered. If not, inspect the auger motor and shaft for jams or failure.
- Step 5 – Resume cooking: Once pellet flow is restored, follow the Monument restart procedure to safely relight the grill.
