Grill Lid Open or Low Temperature Safety Fault
Display shows Er6 and grill will not maintain temperature

Possible Causes
Lid open for extended period during cook, Excessive wind or cold ambient conditions, RTD probe reading abnormally low, Fire going out due to insufficient fuel feed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Verify there is no active flame-out or heavy unburned smoke before proceeding. If in doubt, power OFF and let the grill cool.
Steps:
- Close the lid: Ensure the grill lid is fully closed and latched. Avoid leaving the lid open for long periods at high set temperatures.
- Check fuel: Confirm the hopper has adequate pellets and that they are dry and free-flowing. Break up any bridging or clumping.
- Inspect for flame-out: Remove grates and drip tray to view the fire pot. If there is no active flame and the pot is full of unburned pellets, clean out the pot and restart according to the manual.
- Wind and weather: Shield the grill from strong wind and extreme cold, which can cause low temperature faults. Use a Napoleon grill cover or windbreak where possible.
- Sensor check: If Er6 recurs frequently under normal conditions, inspect the RTD probe for soot buildup or damage and clean or replace as needed.
Note: Persistent low temperature faults may indicate a feed or combustion issue (auger, fan, or igniter) that should be further diagnosed.
