Possible Causes
RTD probe coated with grease or soot, RTD probe loose in mounting, Excessive wind entering cook chamber, Control board PID tuning issue
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use heat-resistant gloves when working inside a hot grill.
Steps:
- Clean RTD probe: Gently wipe the probe with a non-abrasive pad to remove grease and soot. Do not bend the probe.
- Check mounting: Ensure the probe is firmly attached to the cook chamber wall and not moving.
- Wind management: Position the grill so the exhaust is downwind and shield the unit from strong crosswinds.
- Lid discipline: Avoid frequent lid opening, which can cause large swings.
If instability persists, the control board may require firmware update or replacement.
