Possible Causes
Unplugged igniter connector, Burned out hot rod igniter, Failed igniter relay on control board, Excess ash insulating igniter from pellets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and ensure the fire pot is cool.
- Verify igniter connection: Locate the igniter wiring under the fire pot area and confirm the connector is fully seated on the harness.
- Clean fire pot: Remove all ash and pellets from the fire pot so the igniter tip is exposed and not buried.
- Test igniter glow: With the fire pot empty, plug in the grill and start an ignition cycle. Look through the fire pot to see if the igniter glows red/orange. If not, unplug and replace the igniter.
- Replace igniter: Remove the mounting screw(s), slide out the old hot rod, route the new Nexgrill igniter through the same path, and secure it. Keep wiring away from direct flame.
- Check control board if needed: If a new igniter does not receive power, the control board igniter circuit is likely faulty and the board should be replaced.
