Nexgrill Cook Chamber Temperature Sensor Under-Range

Display shows L1 and grill will not heat above low temperatures

Possible Causes

Loose RTD connector, RTD probe partially pulled out of cook chamber wall, Damaged RTD cable, Control board misreading sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill before accessing wiring.

  • Verify probe mounting: Ensure the RTD probe is fully seated through the cook chamber wall and secured with its mounting screw. A loose probe can read ambient air instead of chamber temperature.
  • Reseat connectors: At the control board, unplug and replug the RTD connector several times to clean the contacts.
  • Inspect cable: Look for kinks, cuts, or pinch points along the RTD harness. Replace if damaged.
  • Compare with external thermometer: During a test cook, compare the displayed temperature with a known good grill thermometer. If the display remains very low despite normal heat, replace the RTD probe first, then the control board if needed.
