Possible Causes
Empty hopper, Pellet bridge or tunnel preventing pellets from feeding, Auger jam, Faulty hopper level sensor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill before reaching into the hopper.
- Refill hopper: If pellets are low or empty, fill the hopper with fresh, dry pellets.
- Break pellet bridges: Use a clean, dry tool or your hand (with grill unplugged) to stir pellets in the hopper and break up any clumped or bridged pellets that are not dropping into the auger intake.
- Check for obstructions: Inspect the hopper opening above the auger for foreign objects or compacted sawdust. Vacuum out fines if necessary.
- Prime the auger: If the auger ran empty, run a prime or feed cycle until pellets begin to fall into the fire pot, then stop the cycle and start a normal ignition.
- Inspect hopper sensor (if present): Some Nexgrill models use a simple level switch. Ensure its wiring is intact and the sensor is not stuck. Replace if it falsely reports empty when the hopper is full.
