Possible Causes
Control board PID settings out of calibration, RTD probe placement or contamination, Excessive pellet feed, Air leaks causing unstable combustion
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use heat‑resistant gloves when working near a hot grill.
- Clean RTD probe: Wipe grease and soot from the temperature sensor inside the cook chamber.
- Check probe placement: Ensure the RTD is not too close to the fire pot or touching metal surfaces that heat faster than the air.
- Verify pellet feed: Confirm you are using the correct controller mode and not a manual high‑feed setting. Avoid overfilling the fire pot with pellets during startup.
- Inspect for air leaks: Check lid, door, and chimney cap. Adjust or replace gaskets and ensure the chimney cap is set per Nexgrill instructions.
- Controller reset: If available in your model, perform a factory reset of the controller to restore default temperature control parameters.
