Possible Causes
Aged or burned out hot rod igniter, Igniter not positioned correctly in fire pot, Excess ash insulating pellets from igniter, Low line voltage causing slow heating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill. Ensure the fire pot is cool.
- Clean fire pot thoroughly: Remove all ash and unburned pellets so the igniter tip is exposed.
- Check igniter position: The igniter should protrude slightly into the fire pot so pellets rest near it. Adjust mounting if it is too far back or recessed.
- Test for glow: With the fire pot empty, plug in and start a startup cycle. If the igniter does not glow within a few minutes, replace it.
- Use dry pellets: Replace any questionable pellets with fresh, dry Nexgrill‑compatible hardwood pellets.
- After replacement: Prime the auger, add a small handful of pellets to the fire pot, and start a new ignition cycle. Confirm a strong flame develops.
